Decentralización de la central de Abastos

- Disminuir los incentivos de las familias cucuteñas de ir a hacer compras en la Central de Abastos de Cúcuta para disminuir aglomeraciones y mitigar riesgos de contagio.
- Reducir la necesidad de transportarse hasta la Central de Abastos.
- Apoyar la Asociación para implementar protocolos de bioseguridad dentro de las plazas móviles.
- Promoción de los domicilios.
- Ayudar a mantener empleos durante el aislamiento.
- Disminuir flujo de personas yendo a supermercados para evitar aglomeraciones.
- Reducir posibilidades de especulación/acaparamiento por parte de supermercados que seguían funcionando durante aislamiento.

Desde el inicio de la pandemia en Colombia una de las mayores preocupaciones de las personas y los Gobiernos eran las aglomeraciones en las centrales de abastos del país, pues ante la incertidumbre había altos flujos de personas realizando compras nerviosas. La Central de Abastos de Cúcuta tiene la particularidad de ser la única abierta al público del país al tener una vía pública que la atraviesa. Por eso además de mayoristas, las familias se desplazan hasta allí buscando mejores precios y creando aglomeraciones. Desde la administración municipal se decidió apoyar a la Asociación de Vendedores del Mercado Libre para que tomara medidas especiales que permitieran un funcionamiento seguro y pudieran llevar sus mercados móviles a 7 barrios de la ciudad durante la semana.
