On July 14 2023, an exchange of cultural experiences took place among young refugees, migrants and the host communities of Villa del Mar and Villa Caracas in Barranquilla, with the aim of promoting community integration through public space. The gathering, named Culture in Harmony and developed in partnership with the 7/80 Cultural Agency, included dance, circus and theater activities. More than 60 young refugees, migrants, and members from the host communities participated in a cultural afternoon in the community hall square, attended by more than 120 girls and boys and about 40 adults.
The community hall square was developed within the framework of the Inclusive Cities tactical urbanism strategy and co-created with the community, with the objective of mitigating the quantitative and qualitative deficit of public space in the sector. This new scenario requires constant activation and use by the community to generate a sense of belonging and territorial appropriation.
