The Young Woman Challenge initiative, led by the factoring company Liquitech and MacondoLab from the Simon Bolivar university, aims to promote the business ideas of 20 young women, refugees, migrants and the host community of the village of La Playa, whom have not had access to income-generating opportunities or higher education.
Starting in May 2023 and during a 16-week term, the participants will receive the necessary advise and training from mentors and advisors on issues of business management, marketing, financial management, business management, and business and investment plans; they will have the opportunity to develop entrepreneurial and innovative capacities, which will allow them to identify, develop and implement 5 new differential and sustainable technological solutions, which will respond to market needs and provide economic and social well-being to a highly vulnerable urban environment.
Inclusive Cities will support the initiative through logistical and technical inputs to the entrepreneurs. Within the framework of the Territorial Economic Plan, in addition to the support provided to these 20 entrepreneurs, Inclusive Cities has strengthened 18 productive units in La Playa in the service, production and commercialization lines; 3 employability fairs have been promoted in alliance with the Center for Opportunities and SENA (The Colombian training and education agency) and other alliances have been negotiated to expand access to development opportunities in this community of Barranquilla.
