From April 21 to 27, 2023, tactical urbanism actions were implemented in Manta, Ecuador, in the San Mateo district, Cristo Rey neighborhood. During these days the adaptation of two spaces was carried out: Tomas Lucas street, including the park and La Virgen Square. Although the heavy rain was a factor that made the work difficult, in the end the implementation of the works was completed. The refugee, migrant and host community actively participated in the works. Thanks to the synergy, collaboration, and joint work between the community, the local government, and the Inclusive Cities team, today the Cristo Rey neighborhood has renovated spaces such as: Tomas Lucas street extended the sidewalk to improve pedestrian circulation, meeting points were installed along the route and a mural was painted. Regarding the Plaza de la Virgen, an extension of the sidewalk was also made to improve pedestrian circulation and a meeting place was made in front of the existing mural. Similarly, improvements were made to the exterior of the San Mateo Community Development Center.
