Tactical urbanism in Dominican Republic

From March 2 to 10, 2023, tactical urbanism interventions were carried out in Boca Chica and San Cristóbal, in Greater Santo Domingo. The chosen spaces were selected after carrying out a process of diagnosis and co-creation with the community and local governments that took around three years. The community participated during the implementations and appreciated the implemented actions, which imply an improvement in the quality of the available public space and therefore in the quality of life. Gina Caldera, a community member, sums up what this means for the community: “We really thank Inclusive Cities for making this possible. We now have more pedestrian-friendly spaces, not only for pedestrians but for the whole community as well. I hope more of these improvements continue to be made, because the benefit to the community is really huge.”
